This is a great healthy breakfast food and even prefect as an accompaniment to some vegetable dishes like cauliflower, potato and tomato curry. Traditionally a chella is made with besan (Gram flour or chick pea flour), but there are several variations can be made, Rice cheela is one of them.

  • 2cups / 230g rice flour
  • 1 tablespoon / 6g garlic (lasan), ground
  • 1 tablespoon / 6g Ginger (adrak), ground
  • 1 tablespoon / 2g red chilli powder
  • ½ tap carom(ajwain) seeds (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 green chillies, finely chopped
  • Ghee for frying
  • Mix all the ingredients together except ghee. Add enough water to make a smooth pancake-like batter.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon ghee on a flat pan: pour one ladleful of the batter and spread the batter into a disc with the back of the ladle. Fry until light brown and then flip over and do the same. Remove and repeat until all the batter is consumed.

Quick and easy to make. Healthy to eat. While raw spinach tossed in olive oil provides your body with apt amount of iron, it also helps cleanse your liver. On the other hand, lemon and pepper dressing bring a complete flavor for your palette.
